How To Cross Play Java and Bedrock On Minecraft - Full Guide

Minecraft is a game beloved by millions around the world, offering endless creativity and adventure. One of its most exciting features is the ability to play cross platform. This means you can connect and play with friends on different devices, including consoles, PCs, and mobile devices. Cross platform play is available in the Bedrock Edition of Minecraft, and Java Edition. Understanding how to set up and use this feature can open up new ways to enjoy the game.

Set Up

First, you need to head into a web browser, and this could be any browser. Then, just go to a search engine, and you can use any search engine as well. What we want to do is go to a website called Aternos. If you didn’t know, Aternos is a free Minecraft hosting platform that we can utilize for this crossplay guide. So, just click the link to Aternos or search for it, and their website is aternos.org. Once you are on the website, you need to scroll down and tap on “Play.”

Step 1

Step 2

If you don’t already have an account, tap “Sign Up” and create one. If you already have an account, then log in.

Step 3

When you first sign in or create your account, you’ll be taken to the services page, where there will be a big “Create” button. just tap on “Create”

Then, tap on “Java Edition,” and you can type in the name for your server. I’m just going to name this “ChronoGates,” like so, and then tap on “Create,” just like so.

Installation

And the first thing we need to do is change the software. Scroll down until you find the option for software, just like so. Go to the right and press “Change.” You can also change the software on the left, then tap on “Change” like this.

Next, you want to use the paper/bucket option, so tap here.

We want to get the most recent version, so tap on most recent version of it.

Then, tap “Install” like so, and you’ll see a circling cog. Wait for it to finish, and now it’s called “Unfinished.”

What we need to do next is go over to the left-hand side and tap on “Plugins,” just like so. Then, go to the search box and search for something called ”Geyser”.

It’s a plugin that allows us to do cross-play. You spell it G-E-Y-S-E-R, just like this, and hit “Search.” There are five different options, but don’t worry, I’ll tell you the ones you need.

The first one you need is this one here, “Geyser MC,” so tap on it like so, and here it is. Then, go over to the left-hand side and get the most recent version. In this case, it’s this one here. Just press the download/install button on the right-hand side and wait for it to finish. Once it’s got the tick, press the back button.

The next one we need is the “Geyser Skin Manager,” so tap here like so, and then get the most recent version of this as well.

Tap on the download button like so, and it’s now downloading. When it’s finished, press the back button again.

These other two are more optional, but you primarily need these two…..

Port

The next thing we need to do is find a port for our server. To do that, all you need to do is go over to the left-hand side and tap on “Server” like this. Then, you need to tap on “Connect” like this.

Step 1

Step 2

As you can see, here is the port. Everyone’s port is going to be different, so all you need to do is highlight it like so, then right-click on it and press “Copy.” You could just remember it, but I prefer to copy it.

Step 3

What we need to do next is add this to our files for Minecraft Bedrock. To do that, all you need to do is go over to the left and tap on “Files.”

Step 4

Then go into “Plugins.” Once you are in “Plugins,” what you need to do is tap on 1.”Geyser Spigot”

just the normal “Geyser  Spigot” one. Then tap on 2.”config.yml” like so, and it will open up this file.

Now, what you need to do is find the port. As you can see, here’s the first one. There are going to be two. Go and delete the 19132 like so. Make sure you keep the space. Then just right-click and click “Paste” to paste the one we just copied.

Step 5

There should be another one, so keep scrolling down. As you can see, here it is. Then you can paste in your port like so. That should be them all.

Now, what you need to do is tap on “Save” in the top right like so, and it is now saved. Now, we can launch the server and try this. Let’s go to the top right and press on “Server” like so, and then we’ll press on “Start.” Now, let’s go and open up Minecraft.

Joining

“We’ll join the server on Minecraft Java, and then we’ll go and join a Minecraft Bedrock. So let’s grab the IP quickly Here it is. Let’s highlight it, then right-click and  press copy. Next, go into Minecraft, go to multiplayer, add server, and then paste.it in (Ctrl + V). Then you’ll hear us done and here it is; we’re now quickly joining it.can go and join it on Bedrock to show you it looks exactly the same. We’ll just mine a hole here just to prove that itreally is the same world.”
